Pretty flamingo is pretty in pink

Looks like the spring weather has settled well in Scotland - and it helps with taking outdoor photos of the new garments. After a fabric-shopping haul, I ended up making new things until I had to take a break to take care of some college projects too. Everything is going well so far (touch the wood).

This Pretty Flamingo bodycon dress is definitely eye-catching. Not only because of the cerise embossed scuba fabric from Abakhan but also thanks to those Victorian inspired leg-o'mutton sleeves. Initially, I planned to make a long sleeve top, but after manipulating with the patterns (I had only 1m of fabric), I worked out that I could have a dress if I shortened the sleeves little bit.

So, 3/4 length sleeves weren't what I planned, but they worked out very well. That is why I don't always even make sketches of stuff that I make. Some things just come along while I work.

I decided to leave a modest, Victorian-like, high-stand collar to keep that traditional, modest look. I still can wear pendants or necklaces so that the neckline doesn't feel too empty. The pendant I wear on the photos is a gift from my friend. It is a tiny bottle full of wee hearts and beads.

I styled the dress with pink lace tights to get that 'pink from tip to toe' effect. Happily, I had a pair of Iron Fist shoes with pink bits that matched well too.

I still can't decide if I felt more Pretty in Pink or more like a Pretty Flamingo. Frankly, I prefer the second one. I like when clothes that I wear are amusing, even if they amuse only me ;)

The background on the photos is a painting decorating a little outdoor stage near the beach at Ayr. I was happy that we found such a colourful place as I think it was great for presenting my almost monochromatic outfit.

I have to mention that I won a ticket for a Secret Sale event held by the Abakhan shop in Mostyn (North Wales), but it this coming Saturday and unfortunately I can't go. If anyone is interested, please let me know. I will pass your name to the shop owner to arrange your secret sale visit.

Thanks for reading and, as the graffiti artist says: "Have faith in your dreams."
